I was watching todays traffic (bristow s92's) at Stavanger and noticed the mixed layout of crews, one wearing a helmet, the other headset. No helicopter was in headset/headset or helmet/helmet config. Whats up with that?

Nothing, crew choose to wear what they want.

Exactly, its simple flexibility for individual crew members to make their own choice of headwear/hearing protection. Who knows, might happen on the UK side at some point.

Can they choose to wear fireman's helmets in Lagos?

Or a Darth Vader helmet with built in Goggles, maybe with horns on the side for scandinavian crews?

That's excellent news!!!

I so much prefer the helmet purely because things are so much quieter and much better sun visors and of course with the yellow visor you see better in foggy conditions.
