Hi

Should you have an interest in Blackbushe Airport, or RAF Hartford Bridge as it was originally known, I have been feeding photos onto my Blackbushe Pictures From the Past thread for the past year, or so. Some of you might care to take a look, WW2, LHR fog diversions, BEA and BOAC crew training, US Navy base, birth of the independents, FIDO, a lot has happened at this once historic, and still potentially useful airport..Take a look! Blackbushe Airfield | Farnborough-aviation-group.co.uk (http://farnborough.proboards.com/board/31/blackbushe-airfield)

Maybe some of you have photos that could be added to enhance the project??

Peter - I'd come across that site and was slowly working my way through the pages, a couple every week or so, when I had some spare time. It had been great looking through all the wonderful photos.

I'd got up to Page 18, but trying again, it now says you have to be a member, but it's closed for registration. Is there any way round this?

Unable to register since the web site is unavailable (closed), but here is a photo of a couple of vintage Miles aircraft.

Thanks.

I'm sure there is one on the Blackbushe thread on the Farnborough Aviation group forum.

Several but as you will know Bren, it's up to 107 pages now! I was in the tower with the FISO when the Comet landed and got several pictures but they're on 110 format (negatives about 20mm x 15mm) and buried somewhere in my loft.

Vintage fly-in around August 1965, the mini air race would have also possibly been at this time.

Peter,
Now the ProBoards forum has been sadly killed in its prime, please tell me you have the Blackbushe thread safely backed up and are planning to resurrect it in a safer enviroment that doesn't have an egomaniac in charge.
I am already getting withdrawal symptoms and it has been less than 24 hours!
If you need anything such as help copying threads to a new forum or a cash donation please let me know.
Ben.

I believe that Tony (the forum owner) also has a PPRuNe account and visits/posts on here from time to time.

One can only hope that if enough of us express our disappointment at what he has taken away, he may reconsider a decision that at present seems to have interrupted (that's hope that's all it is) interest and enjoyment on a daily basis for a lot of people.....not to mention the hard work and dedication of Peter (and others) who have contributed over a period of years.

Most of the people who have enjoyed his forum have probably also played absolutely no part in whatever may have upset him.

Lets hope he will reconsider.

Wycombe, aka "exeglkflyer".

A note to my faithful followers..

First, my heart felt thanks for your messages, it's good not to be alone when the skies turn unfriendly!!

Second, it's true, four years of input to my thread have been wiped out, including memories of long lost friends and dedications to them. Through the wonders of retiring from the 'day job', as the clock struck midnight when and I turned 65 I was writing a piece for the dead Blackbushe thread..I became an OAP in mid sentence! During the past years I have kept the show on the road while losing a bit of spine, one heart attack, a brush with chemo and last year a nasty op that will prob hound me to the grave - but the show went on, in fact writing my Blackbushe bits probably helped rather than hindered!!

A new forum is called for devoted to Blackbushe alone, and that is what I plan to bring into the world before too long. Details as and when...

I'm sure we can expect you to be amid the early borders when we are set to go!!

Peter,

Tony also runs a group on FB ("Farnborough Aviation Group"), so I registered there, and made some posts expressing my regret for what has happened and asking, in a polite and considered way, for him to re-consider.

A few others have done the same today as far as I could see.

Tony did respond to state some reasons for the actions he has taken, but then deleted my posts and those of the others mentioned above.

If Mr Stevenson has deleted the Farnborough forum then I believe there is no way he or anyone can recover it. At least two "replacement" forums have appeared. I wonder how many more will appear?

Hi All,

Yes it is a great shame and a disappointment that the Farnborough Aviation Group Forum administrator decided to shut down the forum! I only just started looking at Peters Backbushe posts last week and only looked through a third of it! Quite some interesting photos there!

You can still recover the the forum, but we would need to persuade Mr Stevenson some how! As he was the only administrator on that forum it think.

I'd be surprised in these days of data-mining being very commercial if the ProBoards operators had allowed all the data to be destroyed even if the list owner deleted everything....so diplomatic approaches to both parties and the setting up of a Blackbushe only ProBoards forum possibly the way forward?

Wycombe
24th Jan 2015, 09:38
Totally agree, but unfortunately diplomacy seems to have failed so far, at least from my attempts....see above.

And I am someone who had nothing to do with (and no knowledge of) what caused him to take his decision!

Could anyone (HD?) please supply details of the "replacement forums"? Google has not been my friend so far :-(

is being run on a similar basis to the old Farnborough Forum which was sadly deleted a few days back. Lots of the same faces from that forum are signing up, the only thing different is its being run by a new owner.

It occurs to me that the 114 page thread on Blackbushe could just as well have been on PPRuNe ...here

and asking again are the photos archived on Photobucket or similar?

Nevermind, there's always ebay...these Blackbushe listings are recently expired I think

Just to look through the fog and resultant debris of the Farnborough ProBoards' withdrawal of the popular Blackbushe thread that it hosted..Life now runs through fresh arteries! Today is the second day of my new forum, "Blackbushe Airport, the one-stop forum".

My hope is that it will become the focal point for Blackbushe discussion be it for the past, present or future. My daily thread, 'Blackbushe Pictures from the Past' has been reborn although I will have to start from ground zero following the wanton destruction of my work over the past four years! Not to be outdone we now have a total Blackbushe product, please drop in and say "Hello"..you'll find us here... Home | Blackbushe Airport - The one-stop Forum (http://blackbusheairport.proboards.com/)

If you've not been there already do drop in, it's very early days, the paint's still wet, but despite recent events Blackbushe is back!!!
