Gliding Course Scholarship
The aim of the Scholarship is to assist the successful individual, who might otherwise not have the necessary resources, to achieve their British Gliding Association (http://www.gliding.co.uk/) 'A' Certificate (First Solo). The successful candidate will be expected to take the Bronze C theory examination.
The Scholarship covers direct training costs and BGA 'A' certificate application and examination costs. Associated travel/subsistence expenses are the responsibility of the Scholarship winner.
The criteria for successful applications includes:
ability to demonstrate a serious ambition and ability to pursue an aviation-based career
availability to undertake and complete the Scholarship between 1 July and 31 August 2013
educational achievements, demonstrable knowledge and/or experience in science, Mathematics or other aviation related subjects
ability to satisfy the NPPL medical requirement (DVLA Group 1 with GP endorsement)
age at least 14 on 1 June 2013
Height restriction: under 6’ 4”. Weight restriction: 16st 4lb (103.5kg)
Candidates who are short-listed for the Gliding Scholarships are required to attend at their own expense an interview at the Guild Office in London on 3 May 2013. (Alternative dates cannot be arranged). The interview process includes short tests to help ascertain aptitude and ability.
Closing Date for applications: 13 March 2013
Interviews: 3 May 2013
Training at a BGA approved Gliding Centre between: 1 July and 31 August 2013.
