Thanks again, guys. I was travelling past the golf course on a short break holiday last week, and, ashamedly, although I am a total stranger in those parts of the country, I have to admit that I didn't even know Leuchars was there, I had it fixed in my mind that it was further north, for some reason.
I was driving, and could only spare a quick glimpse as I passed along the road, and it wasn't until further on that I saw a sign for Leuchars.
It was late on Friday afternoon, just starting to go dusk, so I couldn't see anything except the tower.

You should have turned into Leuchars and followed the signpost for RAF Leuchars as the main road runs through the camp. I live 2 miles from there.
