Sppoted this morning (VLC), used to verify the reliability and accuracy of the signals emitted by the various systems navigational aids (approach systems, navigation and communications, beacons, buoys, lights help, radars, etc..)

The flight checking system FLIGHT INSPECTION SYSTEM AD-AFIS-230 of the German company AERODATA, with ability to verify and calibrate all radio Aena current.
The system is able to adapt to new technologies, example, the calibration of navigational aids based on satellites.

The aircraft model chosen is a twin turboprop Beechcraft 350, which will be Based on SENASA facilities in Salamanca. From there he made check flights requested by Aena Spanish throughout, or where required.

It's nice to see one of these calibration aircraft on the inside.

Interesting to note that they are using GPS to verify accuracy of terrestrial aids, whereas on a GPS RNAV approach, the opposite is checked i.e. the accuracy of the GPS is checked using terrestrial aids.
