Anyone have experience of UTDD and whether handling is mandatory for a Pilatus PC12, crew only ?

Hi!

Yep, mandatory. Not bad, but usual atmosphere for such places, take plenty of time for landing permission arrangements though...
Are you delivering it there, or just fuel stop/crew rest?

Delivery flight with crew rest then onwards the next day and so far, only one agent has responded and they are charging the earth for providing almost no services.

If anyone has contacts for local agents who won't rip us off, please share !

Understood...
I remember we did couple PC12's deliveries UK to Bhutan...probably not your case though...anyway, I will speak to russians about it, they might have some suggestions. But, I would rather use something like Streamline to be honest, instead of going direct to local locals and sit with crossed fingers all time, hoping that they will not give a donkey as a follow me car )))
Ask them for quotation, maybe they will not rip you off....while I am searching for something else :)

It's a rip off there, simple..
The last two times in 2012 we went through used a bunch in Prague. Eurojets I think? They did a good job but it does cost the earth.

As a rip off will anyway happen, then it's better to at least make sure the handling itself will be arranged on a good level. So we have Streamline and EuroJet...both will charge shed loads.
Streamline will be using their local contacts, and most probably will arrange handling via some 3rd local handler.
EuroJet should have their local people, as they have a local country manager based there....
Anyway, for hotac - hotel Tajikistan, is crew's favorite. You'll have wifi, and normal food for breakfast...kind of.
To escape any stupid charges, always make sure that when you are on the ground, locals know exactly what they need to do, and what exactly you need from them...otherwise they will charge extras for what they think you would need, but you actually never requested. Goood luck!

Why would I want to use a company based in Prague, or anywhere else come to that, when I'm staging through Dushanbe ? There must be an agent in Dushanbe other than Tajik Air (who don't answer the phone and the fax doesn't connect)....

Right boss...if you want to go direct, there is only Tajik Air:
Send your handling request via AFTN: UTDDCSXX / UTDDZDZX
Payment - cash or prepayment (as always in those countries, cash is better, more cash will sort all your problems)
PM me if you need their contact telephone numbers on the airport side, and in the main office.
