A HELICOPTER has crashed into powerlines with the pilot making a lucky escape near Leongatha.
The accident happened just after 5pm at Mottons Rd in Trida, in Victoria's southeast.

Local residents called police informing them of “a loud bang” and loss of power.

A police spokesman said the chopper appeared to be spraying crops when it clipped powerlines, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.

He said the helicopter suffered extensive damage but the pilot, who was the only person in the helicopter, remained uninjured.

That's a shame.

Tough helicopters. How badly damaged was it? Report says 'pilot made precautionary landing', but damaged described as 'substantial'.
