Waves&Wind: ORBEST SUSPENDE OPERACIONES (http://www.waveandwind.net/2013/02/orbest-suspende-operaciones.html?spref=tw)

In Spanaish if they don't resume operations it will have affects on UK/Irish Tour operators if they can't secure another carrier.

Globalia, the owner of Air Europa had made a takeover bid for Orizonia, the Travel group which owns Orbest airlines. The bid has been blocked and Orizonia are now trying to restructure their finances .
It's unclear whether the shutdown of Orbest airlines will be a temp or permanent thing. Still seems to be some confusion.

The Tour Operators who had contracts with Orbest are now putting into place their action plans to secure alternative lift.

Orbest aircraft are still flying - EC-KYZ A320 landed just minutes ago at Lanzarote after a flight from Seville as IWD1454.

Interesting. Thanks for that info.
Yesterday the orbest website was down from about 12:15 and the telephone lines simply told you to 'contact your Travel Agent'.
Speaking to other colleagues in the industry yesterday it seemed that IWD had closed down and actionplans to replace IWD contracted flying had begun.

Nothing in the media (expect for spain), so it's all very curious..

Orbest Airways have returned 4x of their Airbus A320's EC-INZ, EC-KZG, EC-LAJ & EC-LRT to their respective leasing companies today. This now leaves 2x Airbus A320’s EC-LLX, & EC-KYZ still operating in services along with the last remaining A330-300, EC-LEQ. Which is on lease to Portuguese airline Principal Airlines.
