View Full Version : Has anyone actually heard of "ATPL Theory Pilot" or is this just a scam...?

my instincts would lead me to believe the latter. I stumbled across this earlier today http://pilot-pre-selection-programme.b logspot.co.uk/

(you need to remove the space in the link obviously)

And more about them on their "website" here: ATPL Theory Pilot :: ATPL eBooks (http://www.atpltheorypilot.eu/eBooks.php)

To me, it reeks of fakeness, but what do u guys think?

They're also touting ads around on a variety of different UK job websites as well. Gumtree - Airline Sponsored Flight Training, Pre-selection Programme job in Manchester | TheUKJob (http://theukjob.co.uk/view-job/Gumtree-Airline-Sponsored-Flight-Training-Pre-selection-Programme/hvtri.html)

Has anyone else seen this before? Too good to be true methinks, and more than likely to be a money making scam trying to rip off the many desperate wannabes out there (like myself). :(

Anyhoos, thought I'd run it by you professional lot and find out the general consensus...

Well Future_Captain, I might be wrong, but my nose is telling me to be a bit wary until I'm proved wrong.

Firstly, the whole batch of ATPL books for only £155 (even electronically) looks too good to be true because I've seen, for example, the 14 Oxford ATPL ones, and it does take a lot to put together such publications.

Secondly, I've tried to google the address "Flight Training Centre, Heathrow Airport", and it hasn't turned out anything, unless I've missed it. It might exist, but I haven't found anything. Maybe ppruners who work somewhere in Heathrow can enlighten us on this.

Thirdly, as for the 350 aspiring pilots they are looking for, I've read the contents and it looks very vague, a lot of generalities, but no specifics.

In short, I'm a bit skeptical.

Its a scam....... They purported to be me. I contacted them and had a conversation with.......myself!
I contacted the police and advised them. They changed their website within hours and deleted my name.
It looks like they are trying the same scam again.

I know this guy, I am not at liberties to divulge any personal details, however, for the record, I can tell you he was fortunate enough to secure a student visa to the UK in 2010. During his time in the UK he became involved in various questionable (at best) 1 man enterprises. Consequently he breached his visa conditions and was eventually repatriated to Kenya in March 2013 .
in May of the same year he was diagnosed with a (at that time) still treatable cancer, neither he or his family had any chance to raise the necessary funds for any treatment. He died around mid-October the same year.
