Turn your sound way up first, and you may actually be able to hear the meteor:

Saw one earlier in the night, about 1900z. It certainly wasn't your average meteor, burning up brightly in the eastern night sky for several seconds. Doubt it's related but coincidence all the same. Impressive!

It will be interesting if or when one those things smacks into an plane...yikes.

It will probably look like that B747 that was shot down over Long Island a few years back

A meteor strike might be easier to believe than the official story when comes to that B747 ;)

With the reorganised forums, I think the Meteor Forum will be very popular, as a spin off from the UFO forum.

Love the photo. Does anyone know what those fin like structures are protruding under the fuselage?

At a guess, chutes for links and empty cases ejected from the cannons. But I'll ask my father who has some Meteor time in his logbook.

chutes for links and empty cases ejected from the cannons.

That is exactly what they are. :ok:

Thanks ... it's nice to know what's hanging off other folk's aircraft.

After just one of my landings, there are usually quite a few bits in that category!
