Hi there, long time lurker here!

A friend of mine saw a large 4 engine transport take off from Brize about an hour or so ago. I don't know the exact time. I thought it may be a C17 but he said no it had civilian markings.

Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

AN124 apparently. How often do these go into Brize?

I don't know how often but they are far from uncommon .

Nippy,
Have a look on www.fightercontrol.co.uk at the spotters section for Brize. Someone on there may know if they come in on a schedule or ad hoc basis or both.

VC10s aren't large, TriStars have three engines and it's not a Military C17 so not a based unit. What's your problem?

It was an AN-124, which are almost daily visitors - there's some excellent shots of it from yesterday on FighterControl.

How about the based A330?

Depends on how you class "large". There are certainly large compared with the Tornadoes and Typhoons they feed.:ok:

I am so sorry for bothering to ask the question, I had no idea that AN124 were common at Brize. I had already established that it wasn't a C17 so there we go. I won't bother in future. Thanks to those who weren't taking the mick
:ok:

It was a perfectly reasonable question, this is the spotter's section after all.
Do what I do and just ignore the silly replies in this section (and others), there's plenty of decent members that will give sensible replies if they know the answer.
