Hi, here's an overview:
they will tell you you'll be based in Dubai and you'll have a block of 7 days off a month to commute. The truth is that you'll spend aboud 3 weeks a month in Kabul and the remaining days off will be scattered across the month, therefore no commuting possible, pilots have been unable to go home for several months.
In Kabul there're only two fairly safe places: Green Village and Baron Hotel but those two places are expensive, therefore you'll stay at Safi Landmark Hotel which belongs to Safi family, which means it's free of charge for the airline. If you want to get a picture of the safety level at Safi Landmark, check on youtube the videos relevant to the Taliban attacks occured in the last few years which involved also Safi crews, otherwise give a shout to your country's Embassy in Kabul and ask them for their opinion on the Hotel's safety level.
The Hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport, therefore you'll have to drive twice a day in the city's traffic with no protection and with high risk of vehicle borne IEDs attacks like the one occured in September last year when 12 pilots and engineers got killed on the airport road.
Concerning the airline, in broad outline, they only care of having the airplanes flying cheaply, this means there's no maintenance and no care whatsoever for safety and this is not just a personal point of view if you think that the company has been blacklisted since a long time.
The only good thing is that money is always on time but there's no point with making money if you risk your life every day on rotten airplanes and in a war zone with no protection.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
This definitely helps, wow, didn't expect that! It kinda look good especially with the Dubai base, but living in Afghanistan without protection, well that's a little too much to handle. Anyway appreciate your feedback!

oh,come on....
I have been in Kabul many times in recent years.
Also have been staying in the SAFI Landmarks Hotel (plus others and guesthouses) and used private transports or local taxis to/from airport.
You easily can walk the park near the hotel and go to restaurants...
Just behave reasonably...

Not as bad as you make it to be.

Yes, Safi does own and run the Safi Landmark Hotel including the connected MAll.

Yes, there was a blast that occured, apart from the crew getting injured, there were no casualties, but this was nearly 4 years back.

No your wrong on the , "to no protection to the crew". the Crew on the 767 and all other fleet families had armed guards going in and coming back.

Whilst Hamid Safi's a warlord in his own right, he ensures his crew are safe.

Yes, the money's crap.

yes and no, to aircraft being in a crap state, they do take off with occasional MEL, but they try and get it sorted in Dubai.

Yes, they do get SAFA inspected on EVERY FLIGHT, so you need to have every single darn document and paper in place.

YES, Kabul is still rated HIGH RISK, but since 2011, there has been Zero incidents at Kabul, at the Safi hotel and with Safi Crew.

As with any outfit in the Middle East, you need to be careful with what getting into.

that said, Safi's no less than any of the tier 2 airlines as Jupiter, Eastern SkyJets(This would be compliment for ESJ to be rated in the same breath as Safi), Jupiter/GlobalJet and RAK Airways.

Good luck mate!.
