Can anybody advise whether this procedure is undertaken by pilot when on the ground or ground maintenance, please?

The test briefly keys the transmitter and performs a few red light/green light serviceability checks.

This is a function I have no experience of - is it a new mod for the a/c or a specific customer option? Where is the 'Test' switch? The only one I know of simply removes squelch.

It's on Page 98.41 of the Maintenance Manual, so I suppose that I have answered my own question, thanks. The query came to me from a ground engineer who is brushing up on avionics, so I only got part of the story!

Sounds like E&E bay? I suppose it could be in the 'no-pilots-land' in the cubbyhole behind the P2 seat:) Certainly never used anything like that up to 2009.

Think I will dig around a little more. The idea of a test button which actually checks to see if the transmitter and aerial are still working sounds like a good idea to me if the R/T appears dead!
