With all the bad weather in the UK recently, a short appreciation for those who have struggled to keep services going. I was delayed on a flight from Beziers to Bristol last Friday - ten hour wait but we were kept (reasonably) well informed about the situation with Bristol closed. When we got on board, the cabin crew were tired, the schedules were all to pot but everyone seemed to be pulling together. So well done Ryanair - and to all the others that kept the show going.

When we arrived back I was appalled to see on TV the rows of passengers marooned overnight at Heathrow and realised just how lucky we had been to fly from a regional airport. Just how mad does planning have to be to dig up Filton airport with its existing road and rail links to make way for new housing when in London they are planning to dig up housing to make way for an enormous new airport?

oscarisapc I see that you list your location asNottingham but, your enquiry about Filton / Airports / Housing / London makes me think that you haven't lived in the UK for long? It's why we call it 'Great' Britain.

If we had politicians who knew what they were doing? Who knows we could run an Empire ... ;)

Your response reminds me of the story of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson who went camping. They pitched their tent under the stars and went to sleep. Sometime in the middle of the night Holmes woke Watson up and said: "Watson, look up at the sky, and tell me what you see." Watson replied: "I see millions and millions of stars." Holmes said: "And what do you deduce from that?" Watson replied: "Well, if there are millions of stars, and if even a few of those have planets, it’s quite likely there are some planets like Earth out there. And if there are a few planets like Earth out there, there might also be life." And Holmes said: "Watson, you idiot, it means that somebody stole our tent."
