For those who have not heard of it, Project Propeller is an annual reunion for 150+ WWII aircrew, to which they are flown from all over the UK in light aircraft by current volunteer pilots. Full details of how to take part are on the website.

Equally, if not more important, is the fact that there are still some veterans who have not heard of PP. If anybody knows of any veterans who don't know, PLEASE tell them and point them in the right direction.

Polite request to Mods - please make this a sticky for the next few months. The amount of time left for these wonderful veterans to take part decreases daily and it would be a great shame for anyone to miss out on what, sadly, may turn out to be their only experience of PP.

Just seen this - wish I had seen it some time ago. My Father is an ex RAF WW2 QFI but at 91 it may be too difficult for him to attend but I will try to get him there.

HF (Ex RAF as well but a bit later than WW2!!)

Hummingfrog, you would be amazed at what some of your dad's comrades manage to do. The first Veteran I met at PP was at halfpenny Green when I helped him out of a PA28 a task not easy for the fit youth never mind an older person. He apologised for needing help, "But", he said, "I've got two metal knees ....... and two metal hips." He had been determined to make it to PP and to fly again. You may be astonished at what your father can achieve. Please sign him up for PP and mention that you will be happy to take him by road if he can't manage to fly. Not all the aircraft are PA28s, I flew my Veteran in a C152 which is somewhat easier to get into and out of than many Piper aircraft.
Just a few of the 120+ aircraft at PP at Old Warden:

It is brilliant Captain G. The Veterans are wonderful, great people, humble about what they did but with great pride in the exploits of their comrades which they love to relate to anyone who will listen. :ok: These tales often begin with the words "You see him over there? Well ....." :E
