Hi

Can anybody help me identify an unusual aircraft that was over Gloucestershire yesterday (Sunday 30th Dec) around Midday.

Looked like a C130 - except it appeared to have a horizontal antenna array, or crop-spraying rig, half-way between the wing and tail-plane.

Was probably around 2000-3000ft, so couldn't make out too much detail. Engines were nice and smoky, but I suspect that's standard C130.

Have had a Google at various variants (such as 'Compass Call') but can't see anything similar - as the various radomes/antennas either seem to be fairly solid looking or arranged around the tail. These looked pretty flimsy.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Stephen

Well at least I got the right manufacturer :O

In my own (somewhat limited) defence it did appear to be a bit thin for a C130 - and the engine nacelles a bit longer than usual. In fact I wondered if it was a Bristol Britannia, but Googling seemed to indicate there weren't any flying.

So thanks all for the responses. Very much appreciated. :D:D:D

Kind regards,

Stephen
