Just about to send my joining cargo out with Skycargo (plus some extra with BA which is cheaper for some reason?) and wanted to get a feel for how difficult it is getting the cargo back to your villa or apartment from the cargo centre? Anyone have any hints or tips, I presume there are plenty of men with trucks sitting around. Or is there an agent on site who could could help? (it's not much, but too much for a car!)

Looks fairly simple on the joining notes, but I know reality could be different.

Thanks

There are plenty of men with vans hanging around the cargo hangars. Not difficult at all to hire one for a few Dirhams. Have them follow you back home otherwise it might never turn up!

I assume that you know you get a discount as EK staff on cargo, not sure why BA is cheaper?

Cheers

What is the discount per kg for new joiners once you get past your moving allowance? Thanks.

I am sure you are aware but many web sites, VPN, and internet protocol communications are illegal to access in UAE.

I would suggest you update all your software in advance.

Also many OTC drugs are illegal, and if your cargo contains many pill boxes that might draw attention.

Lastly, bring pasties, no good supplier in DXB.

Welcome...

A bit surprising. . Wonder if there is a different process than stopping at the cargo line.

Good to see you're finally coming here. We should get 90% discount on sub-load with Skycargo, at least if you book using the company systems. Suggest you check with your joining co-ordinator. Anything else you need to know about the joining PM me while I have it fresh in mind :)

Tip of the day: Bring at least 20 passport photos and make colour copies of your passport before handing it over on first day of introduction. Also make sure you get your entry permit stamped in immigrations and handed back to you.

Unfortunately it does not seem we get the discount on the joining cargo. I will double check with the co-ordinator, but last time he referred me to Skycargo for the costs and now 2 offices have come back with some very high costs for excess on the allowance.

Will post here if I found out any different, for anybody`s future reference.

(Hey Lospilotos........finally .........will PM you)
