I was out hunting one night and pulled up at the end
top open the gate. I only put the car's auto transmission
in Neutral.

My dog, that didn't like shooting was asleep on the front
floor well, but when i got out she got up to see where I had
gone, in the process knocking the lever into "Drive".

I heard the car engine note change, looked to see the car rolling forward,
the dog standing on my seat looking at me through the window.

I didn't quite make it to the brakes before it hit the fence post :O

I wrote on the insurance claim form that the dog drove the car into
the fence and the insurance company actually believed me !!!

One of our dogs always got into the driver's seat when I got out (don't they all?) and wouldn't move when I got in. She sat there with paws on the wheel. I let the brake off (she couldn't release it - no thumbs) and the car rolled forward. She tried to turn the wheel to avoid hitting the garage (I swear) before I put the brake on.

Bit like a pair of pilots on the Vulcan. We swore Wally George sat high on the seat looking out whilst the co was down on the pedals as neither was tall enough to do both :}

My Jack Russell is easily intelligent enough to drive. Last weekend he watched our grand-daughter being pushed on her trike seat then as soon as she climbed off, he jumped up onto the seat and put his paws on the handlebars, to the amusement of all.

However, he would never pass a driving test because knowing him he would use the car to run over the nearest German Shepherd or Great Dane; which he would normally attack. He has no perception of "hazard awareness".

Thankfully he can't reach the pedals anyway! ;)

That is interesting. The same dog as described above did the same as yours
but on a motorbike up on the farm. Didn't want to run alongside, wanted to jump up so got her up on the back but no, she wanted to sit on the front of the seat and immediately put her paws on the handle bars !!! LOL
