hello everyone

can anyone make me understand that if an airport is only approved for CAT I operations, can it still have LVPs or low visibility procedures are only for CAT II & III airports...

If NO then whats do we understand from Jeppesen airport charts 10-9 TAKE OFF minimas table where it is written LVP MUST BE IN FORCE .......and what are the minimas on the extreme right of the table....

thanks in advance...

A CAT 1 Airfield refers to landing minima. Take off minima can be lower as prescribed by the airline and plate 10-9.

Our company is approved for take off in 125/125/RTO but to do so requires other certain equipment such as HIRCL and HIEL systems to be in place & operational with a 90m segment (6 x HIRCL) to be visible at the start of the take off run. However these are absolute minima's and plate 10-9 will always be the minima for that airfield regardless of what the company is permitted to do.

Generally speaking, LVP's should be in force by the time cloud ceiling falls below 200ft and Reported Met Vis falls below 600m.

So....Airport Facilities permitting, with LVP's in force, Take Off's can be performed at the higher of the company or 10-9 minima but landings only at CAT 1 minima.

Hope this helps.

As above, so you can easily be within the minima for a take off, but not for landing. In which case you must elect a take off alternate so if anything goes wrong you have somewhere to go within range where the weather is good enough to land.

Things like having centreline lighting have a massive effect on the RVR required for take off, whereas landing minima is defined more by the lead in approach lights and the ground system itself.

Which airfield are you looking at? Every airfield with a jepp chart will have a chart 10-9 listing the LVP stuff for that specific airfield.
