From The Aviation Herald this morning:
An Air France Airbus A330-200, registration F-GZCE performing flight AF-445 from Rio de Janeiro,RJ (Brazil) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) with 201 passengers and 12 crew on board, was enroute at FL380 over the Atlantic Ocean when the aircraft suffered an engine (CF6) malfunction prompting the crew to shut the engine down. The aircraft diverted to Casablanca (Morocco) for a safe landing.

A replacement Airbus A340-300 registration F-GLZS was dispatched to Casablanca and reached Paris as flight AF-4191 with a delay of 10.5 hours.

Seems an AF A330 had to divert to Casablanca on Nov 16 due to engine issues (failure ?). Anyone having more details ?

Good they use CF6 engines that way they don't spoil ETOPS conditions for other airlines... (most use RR or PW).

What a jaded comment re the GE engines. Those CF6 E1A2's have been a marvelous workhorse on the 330s and have given ultra reliability. They are used with many airlines and have been etops approved since 1994 when EIN did the route certification for that engine.

In the last month a RR and a Pratt were shut down at 31w.....monarch went to kef and delta diverted YQX.
