Gatwick departure? After you wouldn't be flying for fun in this weather (unless someone paid you).

May have been, but I'm about five miles NW of Gatwick and didn't hear it overhead as I do with normal Gatwick departures. It was a few miles NE from me.

Could it have been a PA31 that you heard ?
Jersey-based N3586D was around this morning.
