According to the the article above, the upper limit of foregin FOs is 25% by June 30th 2013. The target by 31st Dec 2013 is 10%.

Won't change much in the bigger companies like SXS, THY etc since I think they have less than 25% but the smaller companies selling line-training or not paying their crews at all will have a harsher time hopefully :D

Another measure to protect their locals. Fair enough but the interesting bit is the implementation, especially seeing the biggest deadline is only one year away.

Will they use seniority and break contracts? Or move people/numbers around within a group? (If possible)

My guess is that they simply do not renew the contracts once it has lapsed.

@ wizofoz hmm right and how many foreighn F/O,s working in your country mate? From what I have seen in Europe, only LH has a fair amount of foreigners working for them as F/O, but they are all required to speak German. Other companies like KLM / AF / BA will not even hire any low houred Ab İnitio that did not come from their own training schools or country.

Turkey has been been flash flooded by foreign ab initio F/O,s comming mainly from Germany and the Netherlands not speaking even a word of Turkish while none of these countries will ever hire a Turkish Ab İnitio even if he would speak their language and be fully qualified.

I praise the Turkish DGCA for their efforts of not being shortsighted.
they assume most of the foreigners will leave as soon as they get the chance for better opportunities in the Middle east, leaving the country short of experienced F/O,s that will be ready for Command upgrade in their respective companies.

No doubt Qatar, EK and that other large UAE carrier will pick up discarded pilots from Turkish.... :ok::cool::}

Australia is not part of the EU.

The point is, if Turkey wants to be part of the EU, it cannot disciminate against OTHER EU citizens.

I have no problem with Turkey looking after it's citizens- but it can't do that AND harbour EU ambitions.

well as I mentioned the rest of europe is demanding that their employees speak the local language, so in this case Turkey is more easy then the Rest of Europe it is enough if you have ENglish LPE 4. and you still haven,t answered my question, but I already know the answer. there are zero foreighn F/O,s working down under as far as I know for the same reason why Turkey is planning to reduce the amount of foreighn flight crew.

...And in that, you'd be 100% wrong. There are pilots from all over the world working in Ausrtralia.

Where you are misled is in the idea that the only entry position in Aviation is Airline Jet FO. In places like Australia, thousands of pilots are paying their dues flying piston singles and light-twins in the outback, hoping to one day to fly as a jet FO- a position usually only gained after years sweating it out in GA.

Of course, in Turkey, the entitled youth expect a red-carpet as they enter their Airbus with a whole 300hrs under their belt, and resent it when truley experienced pilots are given their due.

Funny thing is that they are now desperately seeking Turks that graduated from flightschools in Europe that lived in other countries for years..
And then these guys come to Turkey, and start telling that they agree with the DGCA and that the yabanci's have to go.

Well, just don't forget that these guys lived, studied and worked in Holland, Germany or whatever for years. They also profited from the social, educational and other systems in Europe.
And now, they come to Turkey and tell us that only Turkish guys should be allowed in this job ?

I can understand that DGCA wants to regulate the number of foreigners. But now people with families and a life in Turkey have to get fired. And they will not be able to find a new job. This is a very very bad thing.
They should let this rule apply to new hires instead of ruining the lives of the people that work hard to build a life in Turkey.

Oh, and just for fun.....this rule only applies to FO's. :mad:

I think is they right to do so and many other things to protect their interest.
Many european countries requests that you must speak their languages (Germany, France...) or to be a citizen to work.
Let the turkish do whatever they want to...somebody will accept the rules, others won't and life goes on anyway.

why do they have so much yabancie pilots - because they do not have enough qualified turkish pilots

and even with the dgca plans they will not get enough enough QUALIFIED turkish pilots

aviaition is years behind

and just to add: I prefer to work with a young yabanci pilot, instead of an high-godlike-overqualified-overexperienced turkish pilot - you know why ? they are motivated, well educated and have CRM and already airmanship. something you do not find with local pilots - hardly.:hmm:
