Hello,

Could someone tell me if you need a special authorization from the Russian authorities to perform CAT II or CAT III approaches in Russia or is it sufficient if your AOC mentions that you're CAT II, CAT III approved?

Thx.

You need approval for each and every country.

Many of them give "blanket" approvals. Other have to give you an specific approval for each airline

Thanks for your reply. What do you mean by "blanket" approval?
If you're an EASA operator, do you need an authorization to operate in an EASA country?

Nah! Just land anyway. Visibility is directly proportional to the importance of VIPs on board (esp if military) and the general desire not to bother them with an unnecessary diversion.

It'll be fine!

Just for info. There are several a.p. with CAT II and III approach. Here Cat III have Sheremet'evo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, St. Peterburg. So the CAT II approah you can find in Mineral'nie Vody, Rostov, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. That is all. :hmm:
