Having caught up with Episode 1 on iPlayer:
BBC iPlayer - Remembrance Week: Series 3: Episode 1 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01nvbpj/Remembrance_Week_Series_3_Episode_1/)
I can only endorse your OP, Cornerstone. Kicks off with the story of Ben, an extraordinary member of the Royal Marines. Suffice to say that he is extremely proud of them, and they in turn must be equally proud of him. A graduate of Headley Court, he ran the London Marathon a year later fitted with a prosthetic leg.
The story of Gena Turgal is simply humbling. Amazingly she survived the Gas Chamber at Auschwitz. Teutonic efficiency meant they had run out of Zyclon B! Just as amazingly she then survived Belsen and married one of her British saviours. Her Bridal Gown, made from RAF Parachute silk, is held by the Imperial War Museum. She remarried following the death of her husband and is also proud... of being British!
