Hi,

Nice forum, hope im posting in the right section.

I always wanted to be a pilot and obtained by student license at 16, but life steered me in the direction of accounting. I am 28 now, and have always regreted my decision to be a boring accountant.

Anyway, I have recently been considering obtaining a PPL and tackling the hard road of becoming a pilot. I would most like to fly light aircraft or helicopters around central Australia. I have saved up a fair bit of cash over the years, and idealy If I am to persue this long and difficult path, I would like to eventually buy my own light aircraft and run a small business doing contract work transporting people / freight around central Australia.

At this stage of contemplation, just had a few questions. I would prefer to fly helicopters, but I assume there is far more work for a light aircraft pilot rather than a helicopter pilot. Is this correct?

Also, if one was to run such a business, is there much demand for light aircraft services or is it a cut-throat market flooded with small operators?

What other obstacles might one encounter in such a pursuit?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
