Good evening all,

Looking at some of the threads posted on here previously, I was wondering whether ppruners would be happy to divulge in what Aircraft they currently or did fly?.

Not to make me jealous or anything.

Cheers!

I was lucky enough to be on the first (and as it turned out the only) course to fly the Wiggins Aerodyne ab initio. As Ppruners will know well, the Wiggins Aerodyne was quite a handful to fly, and after losing four airframes in an afternoon as we attempted to hover solo wearing foggles and with only five hours total time, the experiment was cancelled and the entire course was grounded.

That was the end of my aviation career, sadly. :E

I'll bite. Smallest - Cessna 150, biggest B737 or C130 (they're very close as regards MAUM). Excluding just "a quick pole" a total of fourteen types, single, twin and tri-piston, twin and four-turboprop, two and four-engine jets, single piston helicopter, single and twin turbine helicopter. Every one fun.

A few here and there - for sheer fun it has to be the Chipmunk. Noise generation capability for no speed has to be the Shack.
Scariest? A funny wee yellow thing with a mickey mouse engine downhill take off at Khao Yai and over the edge. Damn near chewed my seat cushion.

My sorry little list is P1 in a Viking on a VGS.

AEF time in Chipmonk and Bulldog, wih by far the most 'stick time' in the Bulldog. Along with as many 'blagged flights' as possible, including JP5, C130, VC10, Fokker F-27, Wessex, Seaking Mk3. With as much 'stick time' as the P1's authoriation allowed.

I wasn't going to reply but it was only when I added them all up that I realised it's not a bad list! Here it is:

P1 - Grob Viking, Firefly 260, Tucano, Hawk T1/1A/1W, Hawk T2, Hawk 115, Jaguar GR3/3A/T4

Others (touched the controls, does that make it P2?!) - Chipmunk, Alphajet, Jaguar T2, Gazelle, Jet Ranger, Falcon DA20, Piper Cherokee, Cessna 152 (I think, although it may have been a 172)

Pax - Puma, Seaking, Merlin, Blackhawk, Tristar, VC10, Nimrod, C17, C130 and I'm not going to count all the various airliners I have been on although I did spend both the outbound and inbound legs of a family holiday on the flightdeck of a Brittania 757 to Madeira thanks to my parents writing a begging letter on my behalf. Capt Geoff Clack and I believe someone with the surname Pepper spring to mind as flightdeck crew. I wonder where they are now?!

Does it really matter how many aircraft we have flown? Every month I meet with a number (sadly reducing!) of guys who, on average, probably only flew four or five types total! However, it was what they did with those aircraft that mattered!! To get them talking about WW2 and Korea takes some doing but is absolutely fascinating. REMEMBER THEM! :ok::ok:

Betty,

You and I both know that your time in the MRA4 cockpit, or any other aircraft type for that matter, cannot be described as flying..........

How's the new toy?

On leaving the RAF, my first employer’s facilities included a CAA-approved maintenance organisation and many of the S/E puddle-jumpers and some of the twins were air tests for renewals of CofA or Permit-to-Fly and many were only flown once or twice, so the numbers of types built up on the basis of getting in the Chief Engineer's good books and being approved by Darryl Stinton. For what its worth, my logbooks include:
