IFALPA SURVEY

5 September 2012

Dear Member,

You will find attached a communication from IFALPA regarding a survey that the Fatigue Risk Management Systems (FRMS) Forum is running prior to their annual meeting on the Gold Coast of Queensland towards the end of October.

As an IFALPA Member Association, NZALPA supports the work being done by IFALPA and the FRMS Forum and urges you to read the attachment and participate in the associated survey. The results of the survey will assist IFALPA to assess what is happening around the globe as far as fatigue, fatigue management, and organizational culture are concerned. It will also provide valuable feedback on pilot (and controller) opinions with respect to the status of current Fatigue Risk Management Systems.

The survey, the results of which will be discussed during the October Conference, is anonymous and will only take a few minutes to complete. The survey is being hosted on the FRMS website:
FRMS Survey on behalf of the FRMS Forum

Please assist us IFALPA in the Fatigue Risk Management work we are engaged in by completing the survey at your earliest convenience.

Regards

IFALPA

I suggest everyone at EK fills it in.
You may want to comment about 90+ hours a month, increasing numbers of short layovers that are justified / defended by the FRMS department with the data they have, lack of reporting due to concerns about management interference etc etc.
Maybe you think the FRMS guys are doing a good job.

Either way send it in pronto - "The FRMS Forum will be holding their annual conference on Australia's Gold Coast, just south of Brisbane, on 23rd and 24th October 2012. One of the topics under discussion at the conference will be the culture within airlines required to robustly support an effective Fatigue Risk Management System." HO HO HO

EK pilots are well placed to comment on fatigue, primarily because unlike most other airlines / pilots, little to no pre / post flight commuting takes place!.
OK perhaps elongated reports due to transfers from home etc but EK should be a gold mine of data.

One of the topics under discussion at the conference will be the culture within Pilots required to robustly support an effective Fatigue Risk Management System." eeeeek!!
Is that 1-1 then Mini? :\
