Type rating classification 737-3/4/5, 737-6/7/8/9

Hello,

According to http://www.easa.europa.eu/certification/experts/docs/oeb-general/List_of_Aeroplanes_--_Class_and_Type_Ratings_and_Endorsement_List-17092012.pdf it appears there is only one type rating for all 737 aircraft and it covers 737-3/4/5/6/7/8/9

But I have seen some flight schools split there type ratings between classic (3-5) and NG (6-9)

So does EASA have one or two different ratings for 737?

Actually two, but it's the difference between original series type rating (-1/200) and type rating for the rest of the 737 series (-3/900). The actual licence endorsement for 737 TR in EASA land is B737 300-900.

That being said, as you do need to complete differences training for transition from NG to Classic or vice versa even though the licence says B737 300-900.

1. OK so is it correct that if a TR school only has a classic sim then I would need to get an additional difference course (classic to NG) elsewhere to fly NG?

2. If a TR school only has an NG sim then would I would need to get an additional difference course (NG to classic) elsewhere to fly classic?)

3. If a flight school is advertising a B737-300/900 course does this mean I would be able to fly both classic and NG without any difference training?

If you ask for B737NG type rating from the very beginning,the endorsement will be B737 300-900.
If you ask for B737Classic the endorsement will be B737 300-400-500.
The NG covers the Classic right the way but not vise versa.
Afterwards,when ever you get a job on Classic,the company has to give you a differences ground school.
