Hello,

I completed my ATPL's back in 2008 whilst I was on an integrated course. Later that year I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, meaning I lost my Class 1 medical and with it my chance of being a professional pilot. I informed the CAA and the informed me that all my licenses would be frozen.

Earlier this month I discovered that Type 1 Diabetics are able to get a Class 1 medical and I want to get back into the industry. With my license's being frozen would they all still be current now or do I have to completely re-train?

Thanks

Did you complete the CPL/IR within the given three years from the date of the last exam and have them issued?

If not they may well not 'honour' them. I would get in touch direct with the CAA for clarification or maybe re-post on the medical forum for a more informed answer :ok:

I am very happy for you, So did you manage to get your Class 1 back?

I thought being insulin dependant was disqualifying but those are good news, have you got any restrictions?

Cheers
