Wow, I usually use Lufthansa for my trips back to the US, but Friday I'm flying Air France because the price difference was too great. May have let me dodge the bullet.

More chance of the French going on strike than the Germans :}

True, but when the French go on strike it doesn't make much difference. The Germans do it properly!

The dispute seems to be deepening with 6 hour strikes yesterday at Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich. 24 hour nationwide strike on Friday.

Are the flash strikes on indefinitely till resolution reached or is it only for a fixed period. I am traveling on LH in 10 days time and will need to switch carriers if this strike is still on.

They are indefinite as far as I know.

Sorry, of course, for the disruption to passengers - us! - but I have to say that the last time I flew Lufth the cabin crew might just as well have been on strike, as they were less than delighted to do anything for the inmates.

The only good bit was that I was able to sit on the "jump seat" up front during the approach to Ffurt during a major xwind and turbulent landing with the first officer hand flying the a/c which at least made the trip interesting!

Those really WERE the days!

Can't say that I have ever been impressed by Lufthansa CC the few times I've flown with them.

I've had good, average and bad, as with most companies in Europe.

I used to fly LH a lot (so much I had the Senator card at one point), always found their crews in all classes outstanding. Only ever had one exception, the arrogant steward who told me I had a problem with Germans because I complained when he refused to give me more than half a glass of water in the middle of the night on a BKK FRA (business class.)

I'm with Tableview. I've flown LH quite a bit from SFO and have nothing but good things to say about the CC in economy and first. And I think their economy seats are about the most comfortable I have experienced.
