Looking to complete a FI course in the UK and need to pass a minimum of a CPL. Investigating the schools/courses for the CPL seems to be only one paper less than the full ATPL.
I know most major FTO don't teach the CPL writtens anymore only the ATPL. Interested in understanding just how much harder is the ATPL and is it worth the difference.
Not looking to fly big jets, but if the difference is small, it will make sense to complete the ATPL.
Many thanks for your perspectives.

Based on your circumstances I would just stick to the CPL. It will be a LOT easier. I suggest you talk to GTS in Bournemouth - as far as I know they are the only ones doing CPL(A) and pretty good they are at it too.

The CPL theory is a lot easier than the full ATPL..
It contains no high level stuff, and no IFR related stuff. CPL is strictly VFR.
As you said, the hard part is finding a school that provides it.

paco is correct - GTS in Bournemouth is the only school still doing CPL groundschool.

Give Roger Henshaw a call - the number is on the website.

CATS offers CPL (A) and (H) and have done so since 2002 both DL and Residential
