View Full Version : Air France diverts to Syria and asks passengers for cash. 737Jock 16th Aug 2012, 21:37 Jordan Times (http://jordantimes.com/article/air-france-asks-passengers-for-refuel-cash-at-damascus-stop) Interesting... Prober:sad: waveskimmer 16th Aug 2012, 22:23 Air France or Scare France? similar to scarebus as opposed to airbus andrasz 16th Aug 2012, 22:33 Story now confrmed by several credible sources (at least the DAM diversion part). Being rather intimately familiar with ops into he region, I must say I'm rather bewildered by the decision to divert to DAM - I would only have done that in a full emergency given present conditions there. Larnaca is only a litte over 200 Kms from Beirut, and everyone flying into the region knows it as the last friendly port of call. I smell more in this story then a simple dversion. Did they linger over Beirut for too long and they did not even have reserves left for the hop back to LCA ? (That sounds too reckless to even contemplate...) Was LCA closed for some reason (sometimes it can have fog at dawn even in mid-summer) ? In any case, will be interesting to hear some factual information if it ever gets out.
