According local media a BAF F16AM crashed on the military airfield of Kleine-Brogel.
Several reports state that the aircraft suffered an engine stall after a go around or touch and go. The pilot managed to turn away and ejected safely. He was hanging with his parachute in trees and is presently being freed.
No people where injured.
First rumours call the aircraft involved FA99 and the engine stall was eniated by a bird strike.

Update: the aircraft involved was not a QRA and was not armed

glad the goon punched out in time -

Please note, the derogatory term goon is not, in any way racist, divisive or rude - it is a term of, endearment, for all stinking, grobag wearing, heathen, aircraft mangling aircrew.

Still mighty glad he got out in one piece (hopefully) and will be the next recipient of a fine tie - unless the seat was a foreign one?

Remember gents - eject in time.
Fly safe!

Indeed not a Martin Baker seat. Aces II the same as the F-15. I liked that seat a lot. Not as hard as the MB seat so wouldn't get you out of the worse corners of the envelope, but it wouldn't hurt you as much either.

So no tie, I'm afraid. :sad:

Good to see the Viper mate got out. I'm guessing it was Three-One? Have shared a few beers with them at KB in the past. I shall buy a couple of these to toast your health Sir/Ma'am!!

You're right, ACESII is a cracker; as demonstrated by this Thunderbird (shame about his altimeter procedures though!!!)...

Damn Internet, I wrote it already twice;

Anyway, the 24 year old Lt got out after suffering a bird strike and subsequent engine stall. He R/T'd the tower and got out after pulling up with the remaining energy.
Plane crashed 3km of the airfield in the woods. Pilot was found after a while hanging high up in the trees. He was stationed at KB but as he did not finish his tng yet (+/- 136hrs type, 500 total according BAF) on the F16 I presume he was still assigned to the OCU.
Besides shoulder pains, he is ok!
