How do they figure it out.

We shopped in one of the supermarkets this weekend. They have some serious discounts on fuel if you buy the right stuff in the store, 10 pence per litre per item you buy, up to 50 pence discount per litre.

It's a bit of a no brainer. We bought 2 lots of coffee at £8 each (our normal coffee would have been £7 but it was sold out), loo rolls £10 worth, fruit squash about £7 and baked beans £9 worth. Each of these items gave us 10 pence a litre off. Then I went to the pumps and put 89.5 litres of fuel in the car, proffered the 5 vouchers and claimed £44.5 discount. The cost of the goods to get this discount is just £42 or put the other way around we got coffee, loo rolls, fruit squash and baked beans for nothing AND £2.50 off a tank of petrol. We even got a voucher for discount on the next grocery shop.

Bargain. I'm going to take the other car there tomorrow and buy some more coffee and some loo rolls. I might just slip the jerry cans into the boot and get 40 litres for the aircraft.

Some of the offers are part of a companys' Olympic offers to prevent a competitor ambush marketing with huge offers so all get wrapped up in that cost of Olympic sponsorship.

Yup there will be evil people like you and me :E who fill to the max but majority of people won't.

Additionally T***o will fund part of the deal as they work on basis that someone will come in and spend £150 on the weekly like rather than just playing the offers.

Was somewhat enjoyable telling kid behind desk serving me of the offer as he said he will do as well to fill his car.

Sadly they don't include Famous Grouse, Felix cat food and the other things I regularly buy...my local T****o has run out of Grouse at £17.99 a litre, while S********s still has Plymouth gin at around £14 for 70 cl. Cheaper than the rivals at £25.50 for a litre.

But T***o do seem to have some very attractive young lady students doing check out duties for summer jobs!

That explains the British Airways advert with the B777 taxiing around the streets. He must have been looking for a T*sco's to fill up at...:}
