Operated an A321 the other day with an MEL due to FQI being in degraded mode. This was the all tanks scenario.
I am trying the fathom the concept of the application of the MEL but alas have drawn a blank.
FCOM PRO-SUP-28 P1/2 shows that with the all tanks scenario, the resultant loss of accuracy is +390kg, -750 kg.
When applying the MEL is asks for us to conduct the following:
Determine Fm (Fuel for the mission) = Flight plan minimum.
And from the table:
Determine Fq (Fuel Quantity to be loaded) = 390 kg
Determina W (The weight to be added t the total fuel weight for TOW cal only = 750 kg.
For refuelling:
1. Preselect FM
2. When refuel stops preselect FOB = Fm + Fq.
Ok so we are allowing that the gauge may over read by 390 kg according to PRO-SUP... fair enough.
For example Fm = 6 000kg
Fm + Fq = 6 390kg (As you may only have 6 onboard... fair enough)
What I can't quite get my head around is this statement:
* When the auto refuel stops again:
The FOB to be considered for TOW calculation is: FOB = Fm+Fq+W.
Why are we adding Fq AND W. Wouldn't W be more limiting and hence cover the requirement for both?
You may have selected 6 390kg but actually have......7 140 kg....FOB = Fm+Fq+W............aaarrgghh.. just answered my own question.
Posted because I spent the time typing it :)... DISREGARD :ugh:
