View Full Version : Keep it Clean boys!
sisemen 7th Jul 2012, 07:10 I have just come in from an afternoon's-worth of car cleaning. Why? Because it is going in for service on Monday morning and I don't like the idea of the engineers thinking that I drive around in a mobile slum/waste bin.
In the days when one had a cleaner the same was the case - a quick clean before the cleaner arrived.
Is there anyone else out there that suffers from the same syndrome?
And why do we do it fer ferks sake?
green granite 7th Jul 2012, 07:18 The only time my company car got cleaned was when it was serviced, the garage always did a free valet after a service, so it got cleaned 3 or 4 times a year.
tony draper 7th Jul 2012, 08:01 If it is a engineers vehicle one usually just tidied up the loom of wires hanging out the facia leading to the CD stereo player sitting in the passenger foot well.
Does brushing your teeth before sex count?
probes 7th Jul 2012, 08:27 sure - if it's '3 or 4 times a year' :E.
Are we talking Madam Palm and her five daughters here RJ?

It used to be tri-weekly
Then it became try weekly
Now, with the onset of old age, it's become try weakly.
probes 7th Jul 2012, 08:43 old age... making one forget about the tri-daily? :E

Indeed.
The joys of having a lockable office door and the ex working on my team. Wisitors often asked why I had a settee in there :\
sisemen 7th Jul 2012, 09:51 Yep...there were some advantages in having a cleaner ;)
Ancient Observer 7th Jul 2012, 12:28 Cars should only be cleaned when they are dirty. .....whether or not they are about to be serviced.
Local garage assures me that the dirtiest cars - inside and out - that they see are those owned by females below the age of 30. No idea why.

Yes, just done the same. Now it's absolutely pee-ing down outside. Call it a second rinse.

Probably because they've not yet seen my wife's car (she's long past 30, just like me). It needs cleaning out with a pitchfork, whilst parked next to a skip. How can houseproud women allow their car to get in such a state? For example, in the driver's door pocket there must be thirty or forty used parking tickets stuck together with dried up diet coke and orange juice.
The other thing I can't get my head round is that years ago, she used to collect used carrier bags in the car, they were everywhere. Then she "went green" and now the car is full of "bags for life" instead. Dozens of the damned things, bags full of bags!
I used to clean her car out for her but gave up that mug's game many years ago.

sitigeltfel 7th Jul 2012, 13:10 Research has shown that red cars attract the most bird poo. Two of my three are red :*
For some reason, when I clean ours, they seem to run better

A farmer friend reckons it could be just bull$hit.

I should change the girlfriend if I were you. Get one that is toilet trained.
aaron.
Heck no, Mr Ford (main agent) in Figueras washes and polishes the car as part of the annual service, and even one time vacuumed the interior. So why should I do it beforehand !

Mrs Capot's car is the same. I have a theory that she forgets to take them into the supermarket, won't take the throwaway bags offered at the checkout, and instead of using the trolley to get the stuff loose to her car she buys more Bags for Life.
Then, if my theory's right, she puts the full Bags for Life in the trolley to take them to the car.
Improbable, I know, but can there be any other explanation?
