Noticed on flight tracker, any ideas where they might put it?

Stand 51 apparently:)
Very nice it was too, to see it on finals:)

Yep stand 51, just back from there. We were all on top of Pier 6 for the arrival and our fire bobbies did a water arch - with non potable water of course.

It does look to be flying slowly on finals .. due to the size.

Missed a trick here. Flew on the first SQ A380 out of London and the first EK A380 out of Birmingham (to celebrate the 75th anniv. of the airport), but missed the first A380 out of Manchester as I was overseas at the time. I know the A380 has landed at Gatwick before but that was unscheduled diversions from LHR, but has it had a scheduled arrival and departure before today?

Am sure today was the first scheduled arrival and departure.
Just watched it depart in a lovely clear blue sky-fab:)

Ours was from the back garden too-from where we normally see EK 002 each clear day!!
Glad it was enjoyed:)

thanks for the info. So is the A380 going to become more of a regular visitor to Gatwick or is it just a one off with EK continuing to use its 777 fleet? Apparently it can't fit under the air bridge :p

Celebrating 25 years of Emirates at Gatwick. Nice touch.

It can fit under the airbridge , but if the nose gear collapsed, the tail would slice the bridge in 2;)

Just to be clear its Emirates 25th birthday, not 25 years at Gatwick. Can't recall any EKs at LGW in 1987:rolleyes:

Business - Gatwick awaiting historic moment & Emirates A380 (http://www.khaleejtimes.com/biz/inside.asp?xfile=/data/uaebusiness/2012/June/uaebusiness_June277.xml&section=uaebusiness)

It was celebrating 25 years at Gatwick and serving the UK according to much of the media. Began 6th July 1987 according to the press. Google is your friend "Sir" George
