Report here: FARNBOROUGH: Airbus Military pulls A400M out of flying display (http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/farnborough-airbus-military-pulls-a400m-out-of-flying-display-373767/) that because of engine problems A400M will be on static display only at this year's FIA. This mirrors problems at last year's Paris airshow.

Supposedly the A400M was to be formally named "Atlas" at the RIAT tomorrow, but given it's problems a more suitable name should be allocated perhaps - suggestions to Airbus - not me!

In fairness to airbus it's still a developmental aircraft. When's a test program ever run smoothly! They're still providing a static and not flying as they need to press on with the test program to meet delivery milestones.

It's a capable beast that will be well received by the RAF but doubtless there will be the naysayers, just like there was when the herc J was introduced!

Give the mighty Grizzly a chance!

. . . probably just better to add a 't' on the end at some stage. . . just a thought!

I heard the UK version was going to be called the Roadmap as we cannot stretch to the full Atlas

Well, it's landed at RIAT now so I guess it is going ahead today.

A 1982 project which the Belgians hope to introduce to service in 2018. Makes the Typhoon look like a rushed job!
