Anyone else here working with Wyse thin client terminals?

I have a bunch of S10s with 6.5 firmware and needing to get them to 7.x in order to connect with Server 2008R2 terminal servers. Just wondering if anyone's got any experiences of the S10 with v7 firmware they'd like to share as it looks like it's a bit of an exceptional upgrade.

It's almost surreal that you think Pprune would be the best place to get this question answered. I assume you've been to the freewysemonkeys?

I have. I'm looking for any other real-world experience from you guys. I realise it's a long shot, but it's better than the endless "my computer's slow" questions?

last time I touched a Wyse terminal was around 1990 and it was attached to a Cromenco / Dynatech minicomputer
I thought Wyse had gone bust then! I'm amazed if they survived

They're owned by Dell nowadays.

Tried once upon a time, now being used as an office doorstep.

With the advent of 2008R2, VDI, SSL VPNs etc. the need for thin clients is rapidly diminishing as there are many better ways to achieve this.

I think Wyse's days are numbers apart from in niche applications.

Mike:

I'll ask around here in the hospital where I work. We have a boatload of Wyse terminals deployed throughout the campus and being that I'm in IT (have nothing to do with Wyse though) I'm sure someone might have experienced an upgrade.
