Excellent place. Speak to Graham at Skyline school of flying. 01767 651950.
c152,172 and Warriors at cheap rates.
I flew there after OATS and before joining jmc.
Runway is grass. 10/28.
A really good place. Good flying club and good fun.

Little Gransden is a fine location to do some flying. I did my PPL, IMC and hour building prior to CPL/IR upgrades.
The natives are very friendly, there is a bit of unusal kit about, various Yaks, Moths, and Boeings. The grass strip is about 650 metres and while not being long is more than adequate for a PA28 or c152. Unlike most grass strips it is quite well drained and only gets closed in fairly extreme weather
Best of all though, its cheap, esp. if you plan to do a fair bit of flying, I managed to get a PPL for about £2500, prices have risen a bit since then but you can still get cherokee for £54 or a C152 for £45, but you do have to pay a joining fee and a monthly sub. See www.skyline.flyer.co.uk/ for details.
The only real down side is the noise issue, the number of movements is limited so as a result circuits tend to be done at Duxford about 10 mins away and you don't fly a normal rectangular circuit when you get back. Oh yes and of course the gliders from Gransden lodge (4 miles NE) who always seemed to take a perverse pleasure in flying through the circuit at about 1000ft just as I was trying to rejoin!
I have nothing but praise for Graham and Skyline, they bent over backward to help me stay in the air while I was brassic trying to get a break in the business, I now get to play in an ERJ for BMIR so it all turned out nice in the end.
hope this is of some help.
cheers

Isn't Little Gransden the place where all the UK Yaks are imported to and sold from?

I can echo the above comments on Gransden. It is economic if you fly frequently because the cheap hourly rate outweighs the monthly fixed fee. I also flew an Archer from there which was available to take away, but the joining and fixed fee for this aircraft was higher than for basic Cherokee 140's.
Much of the Gransden circuit work is done at Bourn, about 5nm to the east. This is also a very friendly, relaxed place to fly from, which I would reccommend highly for training and as a flying base. Call the owner/CFI Lindsay Brown on 01954 719602.
Either way, enjoy Cambs/Beds 'flatland' flying.
