Firstly the article is incorrect. The Wild Orchid Airlines website states B737

"Our Darwin/Cebu (and return) flights will be operated by an Qantas Airlines B737 and flight crew. We are pleased to be offering you a full service operation with both Economy & Business Class seats available."

If they offer anywhere near the same service the wild orchid resorts do then they won't find it hard to fill a 747 !

Actually curved approach, the article says a 747 during peak season.

The promo video looks interesting. Are they planning to use Ngukurr instead of Darwin? Talk about aiming at a niche market!

The article may say 747 during peak periods but the website for Royal Orchid Airlines says that they only operate during peak periods and that they operate a 737. Just sayin' that's all.

He may have been misquoted by the paper; the media are usually incapable of correctly reporting an aircraft type.

You all know the drill; in a piece about an A320 incident it's referred to as an A340 incident and accompanied by a picture of an A380 in another incident...:bored:

Do you need an AOC to call yourself an airline and advertise for passengers, even if you're wet leasing? According to the CASA website, there's no AOC appearing under that name.

It's the operation of the aircraft that is the commercial activity that requires an AOC. If this Orchid mob are chartering a Qantas 737/747 then Qantas are the operator and it will come under their AOC.

Calling it an airline might be misleading but there are plenty of misleading names in the travel industry that seemingly go unpunished.

They seem to be aiming at school holidays.

Comments on here indicated they were aiming at mine workers wanting some shaven Asian relaxation. I think they are wrong.
