That's not a vegetable! Chinese TV reporter left red-faced after mistaking male sex toy for rare mushroom

A young Chinese reporter is mortified after mistaking a sex toy for a rare mushroom in a television report.

Villagers from Liucunbu, a rural community outside western Chinese city of Xi’an, discovered the sex toy while drilling a new well shaft.

Confused about what they had found, they alerted the local news station,Xi'an TV station, which immediately sent young female reporter Yunfeng Ye to the scene.

Arriving at the village, she then did an in-depth piece about the unidentified 'meaty' mushroom, including numerous close-ups.

Describing the 'mushroom' Ye commented: 'We can see there is something like a mouth; and on the other side there is a hole that connects all the way through to the other end. It is very smooth. It feels very much like meat.'

She claimed that it was a rare medicinal 'Taisui' mushroom, which needs very specific conditions in which to grow.

However, following the broadcast numerous watchers called up the TV station to say that the mystery 'mushroom' was actually a sex toy for men.

When users watched the video online, many were mystidied as to how the mistake was made.

One user wrote 'How do you not know the difference between silicone and an organic fungus??' and another stated: 'That does not look anything like a mushroom - do these people not do their research?'

The day after the programme aired the news station posted an apology on Sina Weibo, a Chinese blogging website.

'Our program last night made everyone laugh,' the apology said, expressing regret for an 'uncomfortable and misleading' report.

'Our reporter is very young and sheltered.'

Glad to see that lousy journalism and lack of research (not that's not an A380, it's an A320 and the story is actually about a B767 :ugh:) is a world wide phenomenon.
Obviously Miss Yunfeng (or is that Miss Ye) has a quiet personal life. At least she got some publicity, so that may change in the near future...:\

I've read several articles on the BBC and the Economist newspaper over the past 12 months or so, and which all forecast a huge discrepancy in China's production of male and female children. Apparently within the next 10-15 years, the number of Chinese males of marriagable age will exceed those of similar Chinese females by about 30-35 million individuals.

That's a lot of horny Chinese males...?! Asia as a whole continues to get richer. Whilst Europe gets poorer. Perhaps I'll live long enough to witness all those male Chinese, Thai and whatever other Asian tourists take "sex-tourist" holidays in Europe sometime between 2020 and 2030...?!

So that Chinese journalist better start shaping-up! Sex-toys may be the saviour of us all (including protection of poorer European citizens from richer Asian sex-orientated tourism) in the next few decades.

PS. All sex-toys must be thoroughly washed and allowed to dry after use. Otherwise, they will very rapidly look like mushrooms or whatever...
