I took DART today, and I was wondering. I had a warning for conflict, and then the aircraft turned red, which means I had a potential conflict. I gave the appropriate command and everything went back to normal. How do I know there was not a collision?

I guess you're right. It's just that I heard that even after the collision, the aircraft is still there.
