As a client of Emirates I am a regular parker in the visitors building and always take 5 minutes out to watch the traffic. The view is fantastic but I reckon if you hung out there too long EK security would probably move you on. Don't go anywhere near the airport perimeter it's bristling with state of the art CCTV and the police will arrive shortly after.
Alternatively you could just go on the balcony by the Costa Coffee and enjoy a drink and quick cigarette amongst EK staff. All very civilized !

Going to the costa coffee terrace is a bit risky for photography though, however the view is great.
