ORAC 17th Jun 2012, 06:29 Maybe I should have said why are they called paperBACKS and not paperFRONTS? OK, I'll bite and answer a rhetorical question. The names reference a book when it's lying open, not closed, with the pages visible; hence all books are paper front. The back is the part lying against the table consisting of both covers and the spine - either hard or soft. Loose rivets 17th Jun 2012, 06:34 I confess to a soft spine:( But, but what if it's a biography of a really ugly person. You'd want to put it face down so as not to frighten guests.
