Going IFR??

Hi,

I am 38 years old +3500hrs VFR helicopters time with 500hrs heavy/twin co-jo time.

I have been interested in going IFR for a while but I am getting scared with people telling me stories about having to stay co-jo forever while making really low wages..

What should I expect if I make the move?

Any info will be really appreciated.

You should expect to be very bored for long periods of time. If you expect to be making less money why would you even be considering a move? Most of us only make the move for a pay rise. A well paid VFR helicopter job is the ideal.

If you go co-jo on ambulance in Canada, yes it is low wages, other option is HTSC on the dew line,...but the best is to go international right away. I suggest to do FAA licence it will open more oportunities (offshore, or ambulance in the Middle East). But until you can built Capt Twin time,..it will be a difficult road.
Advantages: good schedule & no tax in the ME.
You should look when you got IR for ADA, Falcon, Gulf, Aerogulf, Aramco , PHI, PAS, etc
But that said, VFR is lot more fun and you are not watched by the other seating beside you,...jajaja.
