A helicopter with foreign nationals on board has gone missing in southern Peru, police officials have said.
The helicopter left the Amazon region of Madre de Dios on Wednesday evening bound for Cusco but there are no records of it having landed.
According to some media reports, at least 14 foreign nationals - including 12 South Koreans and two Austrians - may be on board, and two Peruvian crew.

Just checked their website...seems as if Heli Cusco operates an S-58T...

Police in Peru say they have found the wreck of a helicopter missing in the south of the country, and all 14 on board are dead.
The helicopter had left the Amazon region of Madre de Dios on Wednesday bound for Cusco.
The helicopter was at 4,900m (16,000ft) near Mount Mamarosa, police said.
16,000 feet! the poor old girl wouldn't have much performance available up there especially with so many pax.

One wonders if the crew and passengers were on oxygen. The air is a bit thin at 16,000 feet.

Off thread a wee bit but not so many weeks ago over the boarder from here in West Papua (irian Jiya) a Kershaw Aviation squirrel smacked into clouds with a solid centre - one of the last position squawks transmitted from 18000' and a descent airspeed of 300 knots.
What an absolutely terrifying experience.

I don't think a Squirrel could do 300 knots, even without a rotor head?:confused:
