An Olympic theme for June: a Royal Navy photo taken last month of a 771 Naval Air Squadron Sea King HAR5 flown by Lieutenant Chris Whittington, who flew the Olympic Flame from RNAS Culdrose to Land’s End on the 19th May to start the UK Torch Relay.
The first time a ‘live flame’ was carried in a Royal Navy aircraft, the crew also managed to inject a touch of humour into the flight when they had an ice cream break before departing: a follow on to the RAF beach landing a week earlier
