Tallinn is cracking.

If you head into the old town you are spoiled for choice for drinking extablishments and good food.

If you head towards the town square you have it lined with various places.

If you look at the town hall there is a lane which heads up to the right which has a german drinking house with the waitresses dressed in german togs and the beer is pretty good. It brews its own beer called strangely enough Beer House.

If you take the road right next to the town house down to the left then turn right there is a medievial pub on your right. Now the food is not cheap but its medievial style and very tastie. The beer you can get cinamon beer and honey which is suprisingly nice. Called Olde Hansa

Also one of the resurants that I like which is a bit off the beaten track is the African Kitchen.

African Kitchen Tallinn | Estonia - Tallinn Life (http://www.tallinn-life.com/eat/restaurants_details/134-African_Kitchen).

Top currys there and good value.

Avoid the irish pubs they are just full of stag nights and are pretty mankie.

The local buses are pretty cheap and easy to use. Depending on your hotel , the one at the airport is ok for a couple of nights but one in town would be better. You can get a 3 day ticket for the trams and buses in the kiosk in the terminal 5 euro or something like that. First time on get it stamped by the machine and then just get on and off. Its the number 2 you want from outside the hotel at the airport then get off oppersite the bus station.

Taxis if you get the ones in the center they are very expensive. If you phone 621777 you will get a taxi at a quarter of the price.

As for the clubs there is what ever floats your boat.

Locals are friendly as well but definately russian in there out look on life.

I second the Old Hansa recommendation. Peppersack is another good restaurant just off the town square. Plenty of good watering holes on and around the square.

+1 for Olde Hansa. A walk around the old city is a worthwhile afternoon.

Also, Kumu (an art museum) is a 10 - 15 minute tram journey and a 10 minute walk after that from the town centre.

When talking about "boring"museums, there is freshly opened museum called Seaplane harbour. Highlight there is II WW submarine. Visit the museum (http://www.lennusadam.eu/en/)

Another thumbs up for the peppersack from me. Also, I echo the tip about the Irish bars in Tallinn. Full of wasted stag do weekenders and are not that great. A visit during the day might be good for a quick drink but after dinner time they are probably best avoided.

A bar called Hell Hunt in the old town serves good food and a wide choice of beers from what I remember. During the day it's quite a quiet place, but comes alive at night with loud music etc. From what I gathered the crowd seemed mostly local as well. I think most of the stag do's head to the night clubs and strip joints as the nights go on.

If you're looking for somwhere to relax then the Tallink hotel has a great spa/swimming pool which is open to the public and not too expensive. Also has an in-pool bar and various steam rooms/saunas/Jacuzzis.

The Balthazar garlic restaurant opposite the town hall in the square is great. One of the nicest dining experiences I've ever had (and I live in Dubai)
