Just went overhead, four miles west of White Waltham, heading NNE, a four engine propeller aircraft. As it approached and I became aware of the multi engined sound I thought it was the BBMF Lancaster but when it came close enough to see I noticed that it had only a single fin/rudder. Aircraft was in dark colours, maybe black/camouflage, difficult to be sure when silhouette against the sky.

Can anyone identify the type for me?

I heard a similar "4 engine propeller" noise at lunchtime and stuck my head outside in time to see the what I take to be Blades go over in close formation, heading SSW. I think that there was something going on at Odiham, which is in that direction from here.

A good day for piston engine noise!
